Family Pack Returns 9/2/2010 11:38:19 AM (Total replies: 0)
Starting October 3rd you will be able to get Windows 7 Home Premium for $149.99. This includes 3 upgrade licenses. So 3 copies of Windows 7 for $50 a piece. This is a limited time offer but I'm not sure when it will end.

Re: Windows 7 Devices and Printers Control Panel Won't Load 5/14/2010 7:46:54 AM (Total replies: 1)
I think you mean to type Print Management not Printer Management. The worst trouble I ever had was with the printers while migrating a client from XP to Vista. They were switcing machines so I used the transfer utility. It worked great except it also copied over the printers (along with the wrong drivers). It took me a while to remove the bad drivers and install the correct ones. If I were to do it again, I would uninstall the printers before using the utility and then install the ...

Re: Database program reviews 4/16/2009 10:03:41 AM (Total replies: 1)
Good explaination, but I have a few issues to quibble about. The 3 applications you mention are really hybrid products with two distinct components. The first is a database engine. This contians the data and allows for create/read/update/delete (or CRUD) operations. The second piece is the presentation engine. This is the part that generates the screens, buttons, textboxes, etc. for the user to interact with the database. These are also designed for single or limited multi-user ...

Re: HP Pavilion p6140f Computer Review 10/23/2009 11:18:17 AM (Total replies: 1)
I'm curious, which apps just didn't run? I've been running the 64bit version of 7 since August and I have to say that it has been rock solid with no issues. I've even been able to run some very old 16 bit software through XP mode with no issues.

Re: Scheduled Computer Shutdown 1/18/2010 6:16:14 PM (Total replies: 0)
The task schedular cannot turn on the computer unless you change a setting to allow it. By default the system is not allowed to start itself. I've also read that Windows 7 will reset the setting to not wake up the system. Here is a link to some more informaiton about the setting and how to enable or disable the setting. http://maximumpcguides.com/windows-7/disable-wake-timers-in-windows-7/

Re: Fences- An Icon Organizer 1/17/2010 4:28:59 PM (Total replies: 1)
I am the opposite, I hate icons on the desktop. I always hide the icons on the desktop and add the desktop toobar to the taskbar. How many icons/programs do you really use on a consistent enough basis to take up room on the desktop? with the use of shortcut keys and can much more quickly get to my programs even when I've got another program running full screen. But to each his own

Re: Windows 7 / XP Mode 10/23/2009 11:27:23 AM (Total replies: 0)
Most people will only need to run Home Premium. XP mode is on Professional and above. Professional also lets you connect to a domain. Ultimate's big add is Bitlocker (something most people do not need and the functionality can be replicated with truecrypt). The nice piece in Home Premium is the home networking support that was added/improved.

The Release Candidate (RC) is now available from here. It is good through June 1st 2010 - so you get a year free if you get this RC. Make sure you get the correct version - 32 or 64 bit. If you are looking to use the XP emulation mode, you will have to have a cpu that supports the Intel-VT instruction set (or the AMD equilvelent). Good luck and have fun...
