| Local Disk Q is required for Office 2010 "Click to run"...
If a user tries to use a feature or application that is not yet downloaded, Click-to-Run retrieves the required functionality from the internet.
Local disk Q feels like a kludge.

| Hmmmm.
I have on thermostatic control for our house air conditioner and if I set it to 70 it keeps the whole house at 70 (more or less) except the room with the computer. You'd hardly know that room was air conditioned when the hardware is fired up. Ergo, there is a window unit in that room as well as the house system. This works reasonably well.
When we got the house system, because a family member was otherwise confined to a bedroom during pollen season, I saved the three window ... |

| This is not the answer you wanted to hear. I had too much stuff that wouldn't run under Windows 7. I decided I wasn't paying for W7 and new versions of all my other software (or I wasn't going to wait for the freeware to be developed.) I removed Windows 7 from that machine and put XP back on.
My suspicion is, that when I eventually someday go back to Windows 7, I'll still be running a lot of stuff in a virtual XP machine. |

| I'm gonna guess that the staffing at the Hospital IT department has been frozen for some time, that prior to attrition in the Hospital IT staff, they were already overworked and under-trained.
Next, I'm going to guess that the new ER is just enormous compared to local need, and that in spite of the "improvements", service is no faster that it was before.
I'm guessing that the hospital is looking for a new certified designation which the executive staff sees as necessary for the hospital ... |

| Since I turned the beta off, I don't have a Win7 box running, but I'm sure that there will be one in my future. If my future lasts that long. Anyway, my guess is that I'll be using an XP machine to provide shares, including the printer, while the Win7 machine becomes my primary user station.
When that happens, I'll probably be hoping that the Win7 box will swallow the printer drivers supplied by the XP machine.
Meanwhile, after reading the material at the link you supplied, setting ... |

| I have cable--I'm avoiding the conversion issues unless the economy forces me back to rabbit ears. One is all ready for digital and only needs an antenna. For the other, I'd need a converter box, but it's so old, I might just retire it, and do without for awhile. |

| Interesting.
I have cable, but was thinking about dropping it, then to get a converter box. An antenna is available. I've had previous analogue experience with an antenna at ths location and experienced difficulties similar to what you describe during "weather."
I guess I'll stick with the cable and look for other ways to cut costs.

| I'm watching this thread very carefully. You know, I get whyy, abc, nbc, and cbs on the same stations they've been on since (I think we got our first TV in--) 1953 (Ok, not WHYY, but you know what I mean...) and I like the TV I have now... |
