Gordon 3.5 Inch, 9 LED Mini Flashlight 9/2/2010 4:03:28 PM (Total replies: 0)
Star Trek always showed Captain Kirk and company entering a dark cavern, or unlit ship, and switching on their “super-bright” flashlights, which totally pierced the darkness to reveal, "the enemy within". Sure! That was easy to do in the Twenty-third Century! Matter/antimatter converters, dilithium crystals- all the energy you ever needed, in a tiny compact package. Well, maybe we're not there yet, but I can't get over the Gordon Mini 9 LED Flashlight, sold through <a ...

If you live in Bucks County Pennsylvania and want to check out your favorite restaurant for any health code violations, visit: Bucks County Department of Health This site is buried deep down in The Official Site of Bucks County Pennsylvania On second thought, after checking things out, you may run the risk of discovering that "Your favorite place" is your favorite, no more. :-) Ron K

FINISH dishwashing detergent shelf life 8/12/2010 10:40:25 AM (Total replies: 0)
Just to add another fact for Internet consumption... According to the manufacturer, FINISH dishwashing detergent has a shelf life of two years. After that, it will still work, but not as well. Reckitt Benckiser uses a consumer unreadable date-code of manufacture. The first two numeric digits represent the year, the next three, the Julian day. A Julian calendar ...

Re: Verizon FIOS For Everyone? Where'd DSL go? 8/5/2010 9:35:38 PM (Total replies: 0)
Interesting... Today, a Verizon rep knocked at my door. Verizon had canvassed my neighborhood many times before, but this time, the person did NOT expound on the virtues of FIOS. Today, he had noted on his clipboard, that I was still a DSL customer. He wanted to let me know that DSL was obsolete, as was the copper wire delivering my telephone signal. Although he gave no specific schedule, he wanted me to know that DSL may soon become "unavailable", and suggested I ...

Verizon FIOS For Everyone? Where'd DSL go? 11/14/2007 4:08:56 PM (Total replies: 1)
Here is an interesting paragraph from Verizon's new "Terms of Service Document": 8.4 Conversion from DSL Service to Verizon Fios Internet Service. At such time as Verizon is able to provision the Service utilizing fiber optic technologies, we may in our discretion terminate your DSL Service and no longer make DSL service available to your location. In cases of such termination, we will offer to you Verizon Fios Internet Service and we will disclose to you applicable rates and ...

Local Disk "Q" 7/8/2010 3:23:24 PM (Total replies: 1)
I hate when this happens! Everything is going smoothly for a few days, when I suddenly discover a phantom disk drive has appeared in Windows Explorer. Local Disk (Q:) "DON'T PANIC", I screamed, as I remembered "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" advice. A quick Google search revealed about 58000 entries on the subject. It seems that it is part of the new Microsoft Office Beta download. There are suggestions as to how to purge the phantom drive, but ...

Shift3 USB Video Camera Review 7/21/2010 10:55:40 AM (Total replies: 0)
An interesting marketing idea used for the Shift3 USB Video Camera is to allow a potential customer to try out the camera before he buys it, taking a sample video right through its clear plastic blister packaging material. A neat trick, until the two installed “AA Alkaline demo batteries” run out of juice. After that, the store is left with a product that doesn't appear to work anymore. A potential customer is left in a quandary as to the real condition of the product. So, when strolling ...

Re: Network Speed Tests 7/9/2010 9:26:57 PM (Total replies: 0)
Well now... Technician number 2 at Verizon told me NOT to use the Verizon Speed Test, as it is inaccurate. Hummmmm. He likes Speedtest.net This test showed that my connection was up to par. Also, during troubleshooting, we went onto my router page, and it also showed my correct upload and download speed. Still more to come about Verizon's "In-Home Agent" Diagnostic software program... Network Speed Tests 7/3/2010 7:46:23 PM (Total replies: 1)
The aftermath of one of our recent storms left me (and the rest of the neighborhood) without phone and DSL Internet service. When the service was finally restored, I noticed that streaming video from YouTube and other sources continually needed to "catch its breath" and pause, while buffering additional content. I concluded I had lost some DSL transfer speed. Checking with Speakeasy ,my usual Network testing source, confirmed my ...
